Prior to joining UNDP, Isabel Pereira was a researcher and a professor at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain), where she was studying for her PhD in Economic Analysis. Her experience as a researcher and as a professor started early in 1998 at Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (Lisbon, Portugal) where she worked for four years. Isabel has also collaborated in European projects in the field of Forestry at MedForex (Mediterranean Forest Externalities Center) – CTFC (Centre Tecnologic Forestal de Catalunya).
Isabel has two Masters: one from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) with specialization in Industrial Economics-Health Economics, and one from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with specialization in Economics of Information. She concluded her PhD from Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona in September 2007, with a dissertation on Incentives for Innovation.
