Poverty and Human Development in Malawi

This first Human Development Report on Malawi aims at ssessing Malawi's development situation from the perspective of the human development paradigm. It takes the family of human development indicators as defined within this paradigm and applies their respective related measurement techniques (appropriately modified when necessary) to the relevant socio-economic data on Malawi. In order to put the findings of this National Human Development Report in perspective, the Report begins by presenting a review of the evolution of quality of life concerns, leading to the conceptualisation and measurement of this family of human development indicators.
