State of the Region in Sustainable Human Development

In order to confront social, economic and environmental challenges a democracy needs informed citizens, with constructive capabilities and vision. The purpose of this report is to provide civil society with the tools required to understand the evolution of society, to develop accountability, strengthen mechanisms of participation and negotiation and contribute to generating national consensus on human development. The report includes a detailed case study of the region of Guanacaste. This puts everyday life at the center of the analysis and enhanced the social consultation processes in the preparation of this document.
