Dear colleagues,
Some of you have requested a few additional days to complete their nominations for the 2009 Human Development Awards for Excellence. In the interest of fairness, therefore, we are officially extending the deadline for everyone until Sunday, 31 May, at midnight (New York time).
The biennial Awards programme seeks to publicly recognize the contributions of National and Sub-national Human Development Reports to development policy and practice in countries and regions, and to inform general HD discourse through innovation and good practices. It is also an occasion to honour an individual who has significantly advanced the cause of human development with the Mahbub ul Haq Awards.
In 2009, the Awards Ceremony will be held in Busan, Korea, on the occasion of the OECD 3rd World Forum on Statistics, Knowledge and Policy, on 26-29 October 2009. A one-day global meeting of Human Development Report teams and focal points will be organized on 25 October, followed by a proposed programme of seminars for NHDR teams at the World Forum. Country Offices are also invited to nominate participants to the Busan meeting regardless their intention to nominate an NHDR for the awards. You can find additional details on this initiative in the Busan Meeting Concept Note.
If you have any questions or if we can provide any additional information, please contact Paola Pagliani at paola.pagliani@undp.org.
Good luck!
Eva Jespersen
