Within a UNDP Country Office, there are a number of people involved in producing Human Development Reports, from the Resident Representative to programme staff and sectoral experts to the communications officer. Many Country Offices have designated one person to act as a HDR Focal Point.
Principal responsibilities of the HDR Focal Point include:
- Use UNDP’s neutral position to bring different (sometimes dissonant) voices together
- Coordinate and lead the Human Development Report process
- Contribute substantive inputs and control quality
- Coordinate funding and fundraising
- Provide leadership in human development advocacy
- Act as clearinghouse for information sharing
- Fulfill other HDR project management duties.
