The Human Development Awards programme is a biennial opportunity to publicly recognize the contributions of National and Regional Human Development Reports to informing and influencing development policy and practice. It also provides an occasion to honour the achievements of an individual who has significantly advanced the cause of human development.
For the 2007 Awards process, over 50 nominations were received from 39 countries. Debate during the April 12 Final Judging Panel - comprised of HRH Princess Basma, Jordan, HRH Crown Prince Haakon, Norway, President Jorge Quiroga, Bolivia, and Dr. Gita Sen, India - reflected an exceptionally competitive process among Human Development Reports.
