HD Partners

Global knowledge networks function as professional communities that provide basic services for members, helping them become a more valuable source of development knowledge and expertise. Please find below a list of related networks on human development outside UNDP.

Regional and National Networks

Asia and the Pacific

Philippines - Human Development Network Foundation
The Human Development Network Foundation Inc. (HDN) is a non-stock, non-profit organization that regroups development practitioners whose mission is to propagate and mainstream the concept of sustainable human development through research and advocacy. Visit: http://www.hdn.org.ph

Europe and the CIS

Azerbaijan - Human Development and Sustainable Income Generation Public Union (UHDU)
Since 2004, this project is an example of a successful multi-purpose activity focused on Human Development. This success is achieved by aligning the activities of the organization with those of corporate, local, national and international development goals, including the MDGs. In there experience, human development and sustainable income generation projects are types of interventions that reach the poor most directly, making them result oriented and cost effective types of human development projects. A second community-based organization following the same model was created in 2007. For more information: Prof. Urkhan Alakbarov (urkhan.alakbarov@gmail.com)

Human Development and Capability Association
The Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA) was launched on September 6, 2004. Amartya Sen is the first president and Martha Nussbaum is the president-elect. The HDCA promotes high quality research in the interconnected areas of human development and capability. It is concerned with research in these areas across a broad range of topics including the quality of life, poverty, justice, gender, development and environment inter alia. While primarily an academic body, the Association brings together those involved in academic work with practitioners who are involved in, or interested in, the application of research from the fields of human development and capability to the problems they face. Tata Index for Sustainable Human Development
The Tata Index for Sustainable Human Development is a pioneering effort aimed at directing, measuring and improving the social uplift programmes that Tata Group enterprises undertake. The Index provides guidelines for Tata companies looking to fulfil their social responsibilities, and is built around the Tata Business Excellence Model, an open-ended framework that drives business excellence in Tata companies. Every year, over 600 trained assessors rate Tata companies on a 1,000-point scale and the best companies compete for the JRD Quality Value Award for business excellence. PDF Inline (GIF) Learn more: Tata Index Guidelines 2003-2004 [1,360 KB]
