7. Proposed HDR Activities to be supported with the Innovation Fund:
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT STORIES: HDRs are usually excellent in validating and analyzing data from different sources, with solid mythologies based on the HD paradigm. However, it is often difficult to "put a face" to cold numbers and indicators, for different groups such as the politicians, the media or the general public. We intend to apply an trans-disciplinary research methodology that could help build this gap in several ways. Our proposal consists in having a team of young researchers (National UNV's - recent graduates or near-graduates) from different disciplines that would travel together around the country and obtain data on the life stories of a number of different families or communities: how they earn their living, how their family is composed, how they relate to their community and their environment, how is their health, their education, how they can exert power in their local community, etc. The young researchers would gather quantitative and qualitative data and will write "Human Development Stories" that analyze these data from the HD paradigm and tell a "human story". The Team will be formed by 1 economist, 1 anthropologist or sociologist, 1 journalist, 1 agrarian engineer, 1 doctor/ health worker and 1 senior team leader with research experience. The team will be balanced in gender and geographical origin terms. The stories will be gathered to represent the different socio-economic strata, productive sectors, family structures and rural/urban area and region.

The resulting stories will serve as valuable input material for analysis, as case studies for illustration and as a means of effective communication to explain graphically the concept of Human Development.

8. Other financial support available to complement these activities and the preparation of the above mentioned HDR:
The NHDR Project will dedicate 3.000 US$ to training the team and 4.000 US$ for monitoring and continued technical assistance.

9. Indicate with a X which aspect(s) of the NHDR preparation/production process will be supported with the resources received from the Innovation Fund and write in the box next to the one selected a brief summary of what is intended:

Excellence in Quality of Analysis
By supplying qualitative case studies this initiative will serve as a a tool to sophisticate and interpret the analysis of quantitative data
Excellence in Policy Impact

Excellence in Participatory and Inclusive Process and Deepening National Ownership

Excellence in Presentation
By gathering real life examples of the lives of paraguayan families this exercise will be a powerful means of communication both within the NHDR per se - in the form of "boxes" as well as in the activities to be carried out for its presentation.

10. Expected Results:
A database with 20-30 Stories of Human development, relating to a family or a community including data on

11. Timeline for implementation of the proposed activities mentioned in item # 6:
