7. Proposed HDR Activities to be supported with the Innovation Fund:
1.Promotion of/advocacy on concept of Human Development in Afghanistan/capacity building for preparation of NHDR.
1.1 Conferences, seminars, papers reviewing findings on HD themes and indicators.
1.2 Advocacy, information sharing and networking
1.3 Trainings on HD concept and capacity building for HD analysis
2. Assessment of data available and national institutions to collect & analyze HD data and indicators
2.1 Design and carry out capacity building for Central Statistics Office.
2.2 Assessment of HD data and identification of data gaps.
2.3 Mapping of data availability and reliability.
2.4 Establishment of baseline HD indicators
2.5 Identification of data gaps, research institutions, researchers’ potentials and themes
2.6 Eventual HD mapping of Afghanistan
3. Establishment of the first Afghan Human Development Resource Center
3.1 Identify location of the Resource Center and conduct renovations if required.
3.2 Acquire appropriate books and equipment.
3.3 Collection of literature on Human Development and selective translation in local languages.
8. Other financial support available to complement these activities and the preparation of the above mentioned HDR:
UNDP Afghanistan has allocated some core funds for the project called The Human Development Research & Capacity Building - Preparatory Phase for an NHDR. The project has just begun and more funds are needed to complement the activities envisaged in this programme.

The project will contribute to the promotion of the concept of human development in Afghanistan by assessing data , themes and capacity for the production of NHDR and provide a better understanding of priority national development themes, emerging trends and opportunities. It will also promote national dialogue, constructive expression of various views and help in creating mechanisms for national ownership of the production of NHDR.
