The UNDP Human Development Report Office is supporting the 3rd OECD World Forum on Statistics, Knowledge and Policy (organised in Busan, Korea on 27-30 October in cooperation with the Korea National Statistical Office) by facilitating discussions around the Human Development Index (HDI) as a tool for measuring societal progress, and the presentation of national and regional Human Development Reports (HDRs) experiences in engaging a wide range of societal actors in the assessment and measurement of human development.

The OECD Forum gathering of more than 1000 experts in statistics, measurement and civic participation provides an occasion to discuss human development measurement features that are critical to the global Human Development Report (HDR) 2010, which will include a review of twenty years of applying the human development approach.

The meetings in Busan will also be an opportunity to share and recognize excellence in human development analysis and application through the 2009 Human Development Awards for Excellence, and the prestigious Mahbub ul Haq Award, which will be given to a leading global figure for outstanding achievements and commitment to human development.
