Arrival Details

We ask that participants plan to arrive at St Catherine’s College on Sunday, 14 September. Please notify us of your approximate arrival time (bearing in mind approximately 2 hours of coach travel from the major airports to Oxford). If your schedule precludes arrival by Sunday, please let us know and we will work with you to make special arrangements. The main reception, ‘the Porters Lodge’ at St. Catherine’s College, will have a record of your arrival and provide you with keys, directions, and general college information. There will be somebody available 24 hours a day in the lodge so late or early arrivals should not pose a problem.

Registration

There will be a dedicated Course Office open for registration on Sunday the 14 September and then daily during the course. The porters will provide directions to the Course Office.

Accommodation

A single en-suite room has been reserved for you from Sunday, 14 September through Saturday 27 September. Extensions may be possible beyond this date where needed but arrangements need to be made well in advance. Please confirm your booking with us and provide us with details of your arrival and departure as soon as possible. Card-operated laundry facilities will be available on site for your convenience.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served every day during the course. An evening meal will also be provided on Sunday, 14 September (at 7pm). Please let us know if you plan to make alternative arrangement for the weekend (20-21 September) so we can appropriately adjust the meal requirements. Please also inform us if you have any dietary restrictions (i.e. vegetarian, dairy intolerance, etc) such that the kitchen may be informed well enough in advance.

Weekend Activities

We have arranged complimentary sightseeing and leisure activities for the weekend (20-21 September) which are optional. Please inform us if you plan to partake in the following activities by 1st September:

  • visit to Blenheim Palace on Saturday afternoon with lunch
  • walk in Oxfordshire countryside on Sunday with lunch in a country pub

Computing Facilities

We highly encourage participants to bring laptops with them if possible. Specific instructions for setting up laptops to access the internet will be provided upon arrival. There will be a few computers and a couple printers available in a dedicated computer room for use by participants during the course. These will have standard word processing packages including power-point and access to the internet. There will also be wireless internet connection available throughout the college.

Fees

The $6500 course fee covers course tuition as well as accommodation and meals at St. Catherine’s College for the duration of the course. The fee does not cover travel costs to Oxford from the home base of the participants nor does it cover per diems for meals taken outside college or outside planned course activities.

Final Session and Departure

There will be a formal farewell dinner at New College on Thursday, 25 September. The last session is scheduled to end at 2:30pm Friday, 26th of September and participants can depart any time after this. Unless otherwise arranged, your rooms are booked until Saturday 27th September (however, if you plan to depart prior to that date, please let us know as soon as possible).

Dress

The course aims to provide a casual, student-like atmosphere so comfortable attire will be the norm. There will be a couple semi-formal occasions for which you may wish to dress up as well as leisure activities for which we would recommend good walking shoes.
