The Human Development Report Office has a new publication - Measuring Human Development: A Primer. This publication is a tool for all those working on sub-national, national and regional Human Development Reports (HDRs). This reference may also be useful to all professionals working on human development issues. It consists of guidelines and tools to support the production of quantitatively and qualitatively rigorous reports that support a process of evidence based policy making and advocacy.

Human Development: From Theory to Practice
The Oxford/UNDP Human Development Training Course, last held in September 2008, contains a measurement segment addressing national and international statistical systems, social statistics for MDGRs and NHDRs and the computation, uses and limitations of the human development indexes. Regional Technical Workshop on Measuring HD
In response to the need for increased statistical support to HDR teams, UNDP proposes organizing a series of Regional Technical Workshops on Measuring Human Development starting with sub-Saharan Africa which aims to increase understanding on the use of statistics for human development policy planning. The Regional Technical Workshop will address issues related to the human development composite indices, use of statistics and indicators, methodological and data challenges, and ultimately to contribute to the ongoing evolution of human development indicators to better capture country-specific situations.
