3rd OECD World Forum on Statistics, Knowledge and Policy

Busan, Korea
27-30 October 2009

The 3rd World Forum on “Statistics, Knowledge and Policy” will be held in Busan, Korea on 27-30 October 2009. The Forum will attract some 1 500 high level participants with a mixture of politicians and policy makers, opinion leaders, Nobel laureates, statisticians, academics, journalists and representatives of civil society, from over 130 countries.

The Human Development Report Office of UNDP is also taking advantage of this event to organize the 2009 Global Meeting of Human Development Report Focal Points. Read more

The 3rd Forum, organised by the OECD and the Government of Korea, builds on the outcomes of the previous World Forums (held in November 2004 and June 2007) and the “Istanbul Declaration” signed by a wide range of international, regional and national organisations. See also http://www.measuringprogress.org.

The World Forum is run as part of the Global Project on Measuring the Progress of Societies, which is hosted by the OECD in collaboration with the European Commission, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and United Nations’ regional commissions, regional development banks, research institutes and non-governmental organisations.

At the 3rd World Forum all these initiatives will have the opportunity to share their experiences and influence policy agendas at national and global levels. The Global Project’s outputs will also be presented, including a handbook on measuring progress in practice. The second International Exhibition on Tools to Transform Statistics into Knowledge will also take place, showing the best ICT solutions for bringing data to people.

Attendance at the Forum will be by invitation only.
