Statistics, Knowledge and Policy: Understanding Societal Change

Online
1 marso - 2 abril 2010

The OECD, in conjunction with UNITAR (United Nation Institute for Training and Research) have developed a 5 week E-learning course on "Statistics, Knowledge and Policy: Understanding Societal Change", from March 1 to April 2, 2010.

The e-course has been designed to provide assistance to those wanting to understand the progress of their societies and promote evidence-based debate and policy making.  It is ideal for statisticians, economists, policy makers, NGO staff and journalists, as well as those from the private and civil society sectors.

Organised as a part of the Global Project on Measuring the Progress of Societies (http://www.oecd.org/progress), the course will focus on the importance of statistics for democracy and democratic decision-making; measures of progress that go ‘beyond GDP’; tools to transform statistics into knowledge; and evidence, civic engagement and policy making.

The deadline for registration is 1 February 2010. For more details there is a brochure attached, or you can see http://www.unitar.org/pft/elearning/oecd. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Barbara Iasiello (progress@oecd.org).

We would also be grateful if you could disseminate this email to your networks.

Yours sincerely,

The Global Project Team
