Through the human development reports (HDR), UNDP has promoted measurement that accounts for development dimensions beyond the monetary one. The event will discuss how the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) can be instrumental in measuring wellbeing among indigenous peoples and present relevant applications in Latin America. The MPI will be introduced by Dr. Milorad Kovacevic, Head of the Human Development Report Office Statistics Unit, followed by the presentation of the Regional HDR for Latin America on inequalities by Isidro Soloaga, and the Mexico HDR on indigenous people by Rodolfo de la Torre, bringing Additional insights on the relevance of the human development approach for indigenous people. Finally, a presentation on the national application of the MPI methodology will be provided by Dr. Graciela Teruel, National Council of Evaluation (CONEVAL), Mexico. The panel will be chaired by Joji Carino, Tebtebba (Indigenous Peoples International Centre for Policy, Research and Education).
