ADePT: A STATA Software Platform for Analysis of Poverty, Inequality, Gender, Health, Education and other key topics

HDRO Conference Room
17 junio 2010

Time: 12.30 p.m. - 2.00 p.m.

Topic

For the last three years a team of researchers in the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank has been developing a software platform for automated economic analysis, ADePT. ADePT is a stand-alone program that includes seven modules: Poverty, Social Protection, Labor, Gender, Health, Education, and Inequality. Each module of ADePT generates a set of about 50 print-ready tables and graphs for different areas of economic analysis. The rich functionality of the software will be demonstrated including how to create analytical reports; simulate the impact of different policies; check the quality of the data; and use ADePT in trainings. The experience of rolling out ADePT in Indonesia will also be shared.

About the Speaker

Michael Lokshin is a Lead Economist in the Development Research Group (Poverty Team) of the World Bank. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 after which he joined the research group at the World Bank as a Young Economist (YE program). His research focuses on the areas of poverty and inequality measurement, labor economics, and applied econometrics. More recently he has been involved in the Bank's efforts to develop the methodology of evaluating the effect of crisis and public policies on households in developing countries. He also leads the group of researchers in development of the Software Platform for Automated Economic Analysis.
