Looking at the dimensions of globalization from a human development perspective, the Report considers how well positioned Nigeria is to become an effective player in the globalization process. The Report also assesses technical limitations and socio-political forces that could limit Nigeria’s capacity for globalization. In addition, the Report finds that despite being the world’s sixth largest exporter of petroleum, Nigeria is unable to enjoy many of the globalization’s benefits due to its extremely low ranking in human development aspects. To address this the Report presents a framework for action to create an enabling environment for a competitive economy. This includes massive investment in technological education, intensifying regional integration efforts and strengthening partnership between civil society and the state. Año: 2000 |
