Missing Dimensions of Gender Inequality in Chile

This paper seeks to quantify gender inequality in Chile over a number of dimensions for which there is now information available from a new dataset commissioned by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative. The new dataset contains hitherto unavailable data on employment conditions, agency and empowerment, safety and security, shame and humiliation, and life satisfaction and subjective well-being.

Challenges to Human Development

Overcoming barriers: Human mobility and development is the new, definitive report on migration and development. It breaks new ground in applying a human development approach to the study of movement, covering both internal and international migration. It discusses who moves, where and why. It looks at the multiple impacts of migration for all who are affected by it —not just those who move, but also those who stay, and links these to policies. The report lays out a major policy agenda designed to promote the human development outcomes of migration, and is a must read for everyone interested in the topic .
