Millenium Development Goals

This NHDR on the MDGs reviews the country situation and addresses the challenges and necessary interventions to achieve the MDGs. It looks at positive as well as negative aspects of policy and programme interventions for advancing the MDGs agenda. The report explores from a national context global partnerships, situating it in the context of the PARPA. The report analysis further the need for an integrated and coordinated approach by different stakeholders to enhance partnerships both at national, sub-national and sectoral levels in tackling poverty. The report, taking into account new development paradigms on aid effectiveness and upscaling necessary to meet the MDGs, suggests policy options, capacities and the resources needed to meet the MDGs. The report addresses the issue of human development and presents, aided by the various indices (HDI, HPI, GDI, and GEM), the status of progress towards poverty reduction and sustainable human development.
