General Human Development Report

The report finds that Georgia’s current level of national income is among the lowest in the world. Until now, armed conflict and collapse of the economy have reduced both population and government to a state of penury, which has precluded social action. However, the report is optimistic about the Georgia’s potential due to the wealth of natural and human resources available. The authors suggests a future sustainable human development strategy offering a unified approach, whereby strategies of development are considered not only for their economic profitability, volume of export earnings or other economic benefits but also for their social and environmental implications. The above strategies would then need to be implemented in the context of regional development poles, each carefully selected for its strategic economic potential.
