The Barbados office is covering 10 very diverse countries, mostly small islands, with a population ranging from 3,000 to 30,000, mostly developing countries. They all share common threats related to natural disasters and the policy focus should be on building adaptation capabilities. They have also commonalities with other Central American countries, such as youth unemployment, crime and insecurity, persistent socio-economic vulnerability. Data and capacity constraints are limiting their possibility to produce regular HDRs. Year: 2009 |
