28 janvier 2010
This year marks the 20th anniversary of UNDP’s Human Development Report. As such, 2010 offers the opportunity to reappraise the Report’s contribution and to make the case for a new vision of human development that can meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. Indeed, the 2010 Human Development Report, which will be released this fall, will assess the progress and setbacks of human development since the 1970s; revisit the concept of human development and its measurement (the Human Development Index); and make recommendations for a new global development agenda.
During the course of this anniversary year, the UNDP Washington Roundtable will convene several sessions on this rethinking of human development. Part One of this series, our January 28th session, will take stock of human development and the Human Development Index in the context of the current reviews of U.S. development policy and the recent findings of the Sarkozy Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress (which was co-chaired by Professors Joseph Stiglitz, Amartya Sen and Jean-Paul Fitoussi).
Please RSVP by Wednesday, January 27, to undp.washington@undp.org
