This National Human Development Report for the Republic of Moldova reflects the changes and the problems of human development during the past years, including 1995. The process of profound political, economic and social mutations demonstrate that Moldova has irreversibly started down the path to democracy, transition to a market economy and integration into the international community. The transition stage has revealed new horizons for capitalizing resources and human potential and for integration and the development of its civic society - the necessary conditions for sustainable human development.
