Aid Data Report

The origins of the international aid system can be traced back to the period of post war reconstruction and decolonisation from the late 1940s through to the 1960s. In 1960 the OECD established its Development Assistance Committee and by 1970 the Pearson Commission’s Report resulted in the adoption by the UN of the 0.7% target for aid – so it makes sense to assess the progress of the modern aid regimes over the last 35 years. In 2003, aid from DAC’s 22 donor countries reached $69,029 billions – up (in cash terms) from $58 billions in 2002, the year of the Financing for Development Summit in Monterrey.
