On Monday, 28 March 2022, 10-11:15 AM EDT, the CoP on Poverty and Inequality, the Inclusive Growth Team, the Human Development Report Office and the World Inequality Lab are co-organizing a seminar to present the World Inequality Report 2022 and explore innovative approaches connecting inequality data and social protection stemming from two recent UNDP Policy Briefs (here and here). The presentation of the Report’s key findings will be followed by a panel discussion on inequality trends and social protection.

UNDP has been a key partner for the World Inequality Lab (WIL) in the elaboration of the World Inequality Report 2022, with the purpose of disseminating new trends on global inequality and exploring opportunities for evidence-based policymaking. The report presents the most up-to-date synthesis of international research efforts to track global inequalities, adding new gender, environmental, and tax justice dimensions. The data and analysis are based on the work of more than 100 researchers over four years, located on all continents, contributing to the World Inequality Database (WID.world), maintained by the WIL.

Speakers:

  • Lucas Chancel, Codirector of the World Inequality Lab
  • Pedro Conceicao, Director of the Human Development Report Office, UNDP
  • Mansour Ndiaye, Head of Inclusive Growth, UNDP
  • Heriberto Tapia, Research and Strategic Partnerships Advisor, UNDP
  • Shivani Nayyar, Policy Specialist at the Inclusive Growth Team, UNDP
